FEED THE HUNGRY
Free Holiday Lunches Scheme
ABOUT THE SCHEME
What is the free holiday lunches project?
The Holiday Lunches Scheme exists to help local families who may be struggling financially.
Supporting low income families
We know that families on low incomes can find school holidays really difficult, without the free meals usually provided by schools.
We provide a FREE pre-packed bagged lunch, including filled roll, fruit, yogurt, crisps/chocolate and a drink.
Bridging the gap
During school holidays there is suddenly an extra meal per day to cater for, and this can add real pressure when finances are already tight.
Order in advance
The free packed lunch can be pre-booked and collected from our church building on your chosen days.
ACCESSING THE LUNCHES
Who is it for?
Any local family who is struggling financially.
No eligibility criteria
We don’t impose any specific eligibility criteria. Any local family who is struggling financially can access our free holiday lunches scheme.
Responding to COVID-19
We know that there may be any number of reasons why finances are stretched – especially with the added challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Relieving the burden
Our aim is to help relieve the burden a little, by providing a good lunch so that there is one less meal per day to worry about.
Parents are welcome too
We can provide a lunch for both children and parents if required – all we need to know is how many children’s meals and how many adult meals you want.
WE LOVE OUR COMMUNITY
Helping our community thrive
WHY DOES THIS PROJECT EXIST?
Food insecurity can have serious consequences for both mental and physical health, placing additional demands on health services and limiting people’s life chances. This scheme is part of our commitment as a local church to love our community and help it thrive.
THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT
This project has been part funded by the ELDC Community Grant
